چکیده

Conventional MRI reconstruction techniques are susceptible to artifacts when imaging moving organs. In this paper, a reconstruction algorithm is developed that accommodates respiratory motion instead of using only navigator-gated data. The maximum a posteriori (MAP) algorithm uses the raw k-space time-stamped data and the 1D diaphragm navigator signal to reconstruct the images and estimate deformations in anatomy simultaneously. The algorithm eliminates blurring due to binning the data and increases signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by using all of the collected data. The algorithm is tested in a simulated torso phantom and is shown to increase image quality by dramatically reducing motion artifacts.

Simultaneous acquisition of image and navigator slices using CAIPIRINHA for 4D MRI.

PURPOSE Respiratory organ motion is still the major challenge of various image-guided treatments in the abdomen. Dynamic organ motion tracking, necessary for the treatment control, can be performed with volumetric time-resolved MRI that sequentially acquires one image and one navigator slice. Here, a novel imaging method is proposed for truly simultaneous high temporal resolution acquisition. ...

4D Wavelet-Based Regularization for Parallel MRI Reconstruction: Impact on Subject and Group-Levels Statistical Sensitivity in fMRI

Parallel MRI is a fast imaging technique that enables the acquisition of highly resolved images in space. It relies on k-space undersampling and multiple receiver coils with complementary sensitivity profiles in order to reconstruct a full Field-Of-View (FOV) image. The performance of parallel imaging mainly depends on the reconstruction algorithm, which can proceed either in the original k-spa...

4D image reconstruction for emission tomography.

An overview of the theory of 4D image reconstruction for emission tomography is given along with a review of the current state of the art, covering both positron emission tomography and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). By viewing 4D image reconstruction as a matter of either linear or non-linear parameter estimation for a set of spatiotemporal functions chosen to approximatel...

Deriving Anatomical Context from 4D Ultrasound

Real-time three-dimensional (also known as 4D) ultrasound imaging using matrix array probes has the potential to create large-volume information of entire organs such as the liver without external tracking hardware. This information can in turn be placed into the context of a CT or MRI scan of the same patient. However for such an approach many image processing challenges need to be overcome an...

Ultra-Fast Image Reconstruction of Tomosynthesis Mammography Using GPU

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) is a technology that creates three dimensional (3D) images of breast tissue. Tomosynthesis mammography detects lesions that are not detectable with other imaging systems. If image reconstruction time is in the order of seconds, we can use Tomosynthesis systems to perform Tomosynthesis-guided Interventional procedures. This research has been designed to study u...
